The swim is NON-COMPETITIVE and open to anyone who is of high school age and older. Each swimmer and paddler will be asked for an entry fee of $25 and swimmers are asked to raise a minimum of $100.00 in pledges in order to participate in this event. Paddlers may do so if they wish. A free continental breakfast will be served for participants and available to spectators for purchase. All participants will receive a Krossin’ Keuka ‘11 tee shirt and wonderful prizes will be awarded to the participant who raises the most money and to the participant who has the most number of pledges.

All money raised from this event is to benefit the Keuka Comfort Care Home. KCCH’s mission is to provide a facility and staff to ensure compassionate care in a peaceful, home-like environment for our community’s terminally ill residents and their families, at no cost to these patients or families. KCCH is an extremely valuable asset to our community and the quality of care at KCCH has been experienced by many. Heron Hill’s Rieslings have earned prestigious awards at the Riverside International Wine Competition held in the Temecula wine region east of Los Angeles in California! For 30 years, the Riverside International Wine Competition has provided consumers and the wine industry with carefully considered results of a blind tasting by professional wine evaluators, this year they had 1930 wine submissions. Three of Heron Hill’s wines earned the Chairman’s Gold (unanimously voted Gold); 2008 Ingle Vineyard Riesling, 2009 Semi-Dry Riesling and the 2008 Late Harvest Vidal Blanc. The International Riesling Foundation awarded trophies for Best Rieslings and the 2008 Ingle Vineyard Riesling took home the Dry Wine Trophy. Wine judge, Coke Roth described it as “Gardenia and orchard fruit aromas with light anise and petrol notes. Flavors start out with tart applesauce and minerality; juicy.”

Owner and grapegrower, John Ingle comments, “These delicious wines truly reflect what’s great about Finger Lakes Rieslings and solidify our status as a world-class wine region.”

The Café offers a broad menu including locally produced cheeses and vegetables, low-calorie, vegetarian and gluten-free (available upon request) menu items. An extensive wine list of Heron Hill wines by the bottle and glass are also available. Each dish has a suggested wine pairing that has been expertly selected by the Café Director and tasting hall staff. Some of the summertime specialties are the Cuban Panini ($8) and White Flat Bread Pizza ($10). The seasonal favorite is the Carribean Jerk Pulled Pork Sandwich ($8), served with spicy jerk sauce, provolone cheese and green onion on a Kaiser roll, perfect with a glass of the Winemaker’s Summer Sangria (get the recipe online)!

The Keuka Comfort Care Home is having its famous annual garage sale, Friday June 3rd, 9am – 4pm and Saturday June 4th, 9am – 2pm, at the Yates County Fairgrounds located on Old Rte 14a, Penn Yan. We will have volunteers, at the Fairgrounds, to accept your donations on Monday, May 30th, 10am-2pm and Tuesday, May 31st, 10am-4pm.
When you are cleaning out your house this spring, please consider saving your best items for our garage sale. If you could hold onto those items and bring them to the Fairgrounds on that Monday or Tues prior to the sale, we would appreciate it.

We will be accepting “like new” household items, such as glassware, kitchenware, quilts and blankets, baby things, paintings and pictures, furniture, decorations, jewelry, linens, to name a few, on Monday, May 30th, 10am – 2pm and Tuesday, May 31st from 10am – 4pm at the Fairgrounds. Volunteers will be on hand to accept your donation and help you with your items.

As always, we will not be accepting electronics, such as TV’s, radios, computers, printers, blow dryers, and the like as we cannot guarantee they are in good working order and we would hate to sell something that needed to be fixed. We will not accept any gym equipment or Christmas Trees. We have found in the past, they do not sell.

If you have a questionable item, please call the Keuka Comfort Care Home at 315-536-1690 prior to our take in dates of May 30th and May 31st to avoid being turned away. We pride ourselves on having a good, clean, successful garage sale with fair prices and nice items for sale.

We are still looking for volunteers who would like to help us out that week. We will be setting up and accepting donations, Monday, May 30th and Tuesday, May 31st; Wednesday and Thursday, June 1st and 2nd, we will be tagging and sorting; Friday and Saturday is the sale. If you have a few hours to share with us that week, we would love to have your help. We are especially in need of people with good backs and a good truck to help us with the bigger donations.
The Keuka Comfort Care Home is a two bedroom home for the terminally ill who have been medically determined to be in the last three months of their lives and who have decided to forgo further treatment other than palliative care during this time. We do not receive any money from the resident, their family or their insurance company. We are funded entirely by donations, grants, and fundraisers.
